Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly enthusiastic, knowledgeable and motivated individual to lead on service user engagement within our new West Midlands Gambling Harms Service based in Stoke-on-Trent

The post offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference to residents in West Midlands as part of the first NHS service of its type in this area.

Main duties of the job

As an integral and highly valued member of the gambling Harm team the post holder will provide formalised peer support, and practical assistance to service users in order for them to regain control over their lives and their own unique recovery process. You will engage with service users to show empathy, kindness, share experiences, inspire hope, and promote recovery with the aim of assisting service users to gain and maintain independence in the community.

Lead on engagement activities and events, along with the production, deliver and editing of a variety of communication materials including social media leaflets, brochures webpages and newsletters

You will have experience in engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders and groups, in particular reaching out to marginalised or hard to reach communities

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. To engage and support those receiving treatment within the clinic
  2. Provide peer support to those engaged with the clinic on a group and one-to-one basis
  3. Develop, implement, and manage service user involvement / peer support group to allow for those successfully completing treatment to promote visible recovery and support others
  4. Manage and coordinate the consistent delivery of peer support/service user group
  5. Create and assist with developing links with partner organisations / community support agencies to support those in treatment.
  6. To signpost to local services and empower service users to build their community networks and recovery capital.
  7. To assist in the planning and execution of local and national campaigns related to service/treatment content for gambling
  8. Create content and implement social media plans using Orlo (or other social media management tool).
  9. Create design assets to use for social media
  10. Monitor social media and communications and respond to queries using approved processes
  11. Maintain website and update with relevant information impacting on service user/potential service users and other target audiences using Wordpress (or other relevant content management system).
  12. Support the Programme and Communications Lead to deliver targeted and effective PR, publicity and promotional activity aimed at supporting organisational objectives for gambling harms service
  13. In conjunction with the Programme and Communications Lead assist in the planning and execution of campaigns.
  14. Prepare and upload content to external websites and to designated website and social media channels
  15. Ensure you are up to date with all new Inclusion and gambling developments and have an in-depth understanding of the work we do in order to contribute to and produce accurate and compelling marketing and promotional materials.

  1. Gather case studies through close working with the clinical leads and key staff to demonstrate the impact of the care we give, cataloguing the stories with the related consent documentation.
  2. Build a database of photos and videos for promotional use, regularly getting these updated and ensuring they are catalogued effectively and all have the adequate consent for future use.
  3. Monitor external activity and develop ways of engaging with local and national events or promotions which will align to our service aims i.e. gambling awareness week etc. taking all opportunities to increase awareness or dispel myths surrounding gambling and any other health and non-health related areas.
  4. Provide appropriate cover for the comms-based activities within the marketing/comms section of team during periods of colleague absence to ensure service is not disrupted.
  5. On occasion work out of hours and at weekends when required.
  6. To represent and be professional at all times whilst representing Inclusion at all meetings, external events including conference and training.
  7. To present activity data and analytics in line with delivery outcomes and targeted objectives.
  8. To be familiar with and work within all MPFT/Inclusion policies.
  9. To undertake any tasks supporting the comms and marketing activities of Inclusion services.
