Job summary

Provide high quality, evidence based cognitive behavioural therapies (CBT) to adults experiencing gambling harm with complex presentations and their families / carers, that achieve the psychological well-being and valued outcomes for people served by the East of England Gambling Harms Clinic.

Main duties of the job

Accept referrals via agreed service protocols and assess (via telephone, on-line and face-to- face) a person's suitability for psychological interventions to address gambling harms. Refer or signpost individuals to other sources of help and support where appropriate, including when the gambling harms clinic is not best placed to meet their current needs.

With the individual, co-produce a formulation that makes sense of their gambling behaviour and additional problems and an individualised treatment plan, and identify any support available to complete this.

With the individual, assess risk(s) to self and others and agree a plan to manage these. Ensure appropriate and timely actions and documentation, in line with Trust/ clinic protocols and procedures, and proactively liaise with colleagues and partners across the gambling treatment system to manage high risk referrals.

Deliver a high quality, evidence based cognitive behavioural therapy programme for gambling with other team members, and CBT for additional problems experienced by individuals. Therapy sessions will be offered individually and in groups, face-to-face at the clinic or other settings, and on-line.

Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.

Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients.

CNWL NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to have been awarded the contract for the East of England Gambling Service in partnership with Inclusion (Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust).

Inclusion/MPFT are seeking 2 experienced CBT to join our dynamic new team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a unique branch of mental health at a time of unprecedented expansion and growth. The post holder will have the chance to make a significant difference to residents in the East of England and to be part of the development of the first NHS gambling service in this region.

The successful candidate will be an energetic and robust individual with sophisticated and sensitive clinical skills, and a proven track record of delivering high quality services in either the NHS, social care or the private sector.

Work as a member of the Clinics Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), attending team meetings as necessary, including MDT case discussions, and contributing to team development and working relationships and connections with other relevant services and agencies.

Provide psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the clients formulation and care plan, including from primary care, financial/debt management, housing and safeguarding.

Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.

Maintain high standards of record keeping, including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with NHS and professional codes of practice, including duty of care, confidentiality and information sharing.

  • A recorded/registered qualification in clinical or counselling psychology/ a recorded/registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or a psychological therapy AND further post graduate qualification training in CBT to at least equivalent of a post graduate diploma, or Qualification from High Intensity IAPT Course (Post Graduate) AND Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences as required. Provisional or full accreditation with a recognised professional body (e.g. BABCP/UKCP) Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by relevant professional body.

Experience of working in primary care Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and intervention, and of managing own caseload. Experience of liaising with other professional groups.
