IAPT Employment Advisor

Full Time Band 4 plus 5% Fringe HCAS benefit

This is an exciting time to be joining us. We are expanding our existing employment support team in Thurrock so we can support anyone struggling with their mental health wellbeing in Thurrock. A new team of Employment Advisors is being recruited to support individuals accessing our Inclusion Thurrock IAPT service. The team will work alongside and be supported by our high performing IPS Employment Service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled group of individuals who are creative and sensitive to support our clients back into the work place or support those who are already in employment to both maintain their roles and to thrive.

Main duties of the job

  • Determination to work towards ensuring service users chosen occupation is honoured
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision required but strong team awareness.
  • Able to build relationships with service users and internal and external relationships in the community

  • Able to work assertively and diplomatically to influence clinical team and significant others

This role is part of an innovative new IAPT employment service, aligned and working closely with the other Inclusion Thurrock Services and Recovery College, to support people with mental health problems with employment needs. Evidence based supported employment, Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is the model being used. The post holder will be instrumental in supporting individuals using this evidence based model. You will be supported in this process by the IAPT Senior Employment Advisor and the IAPT Clinical Lead.

The role will involve working directly with IAPT Therapists, Jobcentre Plus, employers, trade unions, world of work and employment agencies, to keep people in employment and secure employment opportunities. You will work closely with practitioners in Thurrock Community Mental Health teams, Recovery College and other services serving Thurrock. We are keen to make a real difference to the vocational outcomes of people accessing our services.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills. Sound IT Skills.
