We have an exciting opportunity to work within our multi-disciplinary teams within HMP Stafford and HMPYOI Werrington, we are looking for an experienced Psychosocial Substance Misuse Team Lead who will be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary teams in both prisons.

HMP Stafford is a category C male adult prison holding only those convicted of sexual offences. The prison promotes a rehabilitative culture and the Inclusion Service is recovery focussed.

HMPYOI Werrington is part of the Young Person's Secure Estate for England housing young males aged 15 to 18 years, near Stoke-on-Trent. The service is committed to providing a safe and educational environment where young people can learn new skills to help them on release.

As the Psychosocial Lead within the teams, you will work alongside the Team Manager and will manage and supervise Band 5 Recovery Workers. You will have a deep understanding of substance misuse and delivering effective treatment pathways. You will also lead on Psychosocial Interventions within the team and take an active role in the prisons' Drug Strategy whilst fostering effective working relationships key stakeholders. You will need to be confident in managing a caseload of people with complex needs and offer supervision, support and guidance to other members of the team.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job include:

  • Demonstrate skill and experience of providing evidence based psychosocial interventions supporting service users to make positive changes towards recovery.
  • Have the ability to apply your skills and interventions to the care of service users with mild to moderate mental health needs that often co-exist with substance misuse needs.
  • Be highly motivated with the ability to support and inspire.
  • Supervise recovery workers to manage complex caseloads and manage group delivery and adherence to pathways
  • Have excellent time management skills to organise workload across 2 prison sites.
  • Be enthusiastic about working within an ever-changing prison environment.
  • Work to assist service users to progress through their sentence and onto their resettlement in the community.
  • Work in a fully multi-disciplinary team to provide varied and comprehensive interventions in-line with the stepped care model. The team includes RMNs, RLDN, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Psychosocial Workers and team administrators.
  • Take an active role in the prison Drug Strategy whilst fostering effective working relationships with HMIP, prison colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Be able to produce reports and deliver information in relation to service delivery to senior management and key stakeholders
