Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our newly formed Psychological Therapy Service (PTS) treating patients with more complex needs in primary care. The PTS service provides psychological support for this group of patients who sit between the thresholds of IAPT services and more traditional secondary care psychology services but enjoys a close working relationship with each team.
Specifically, this post will sit within a new 'Intensive Support Team' pathway in the PTS. This pathway is designed to work with clients presenting with hoarding, OCD & agoraphobia difficulties. The post holder will work closely in a small multi-disciplinary team with an Occupational Therapist and a Support Worker to collaboratively devise treatment plans with clients and work intensively with clients (3-5 sessions per week). As a result, the post holder will hold a small caseload of clients (1-2) but work intensively with them throughout the week.

In conjunction with the Clinical Lead, and wider Inclusion services, this post holder will take responsibility for the advancement and quality of care for clients who experience a range of mental health problems with needs requiring evidence-based psychological interventions. To deliver care to people identified as specifically requiring psychological interventions in accordance with your level of training and competence.To assess service users for suitability for the specific, evidence-based therapies in which you are qualified. To identify where a persons problems appear too complex or severe to be appropriate and refer to clinical supervisor for advice on further action.Making clinical decisions when working with people with comparatively less complex psychological needs, requiring psychological assessment and intervention, within Inclusion Thurrock and as part of the wider community pathway. You will provide assessments, formulations and interventions with regular supervision
