Job summary

As part of the Safety, Environment and Quality team, Your role will be the provision of compliance estates and facilities auditing to various business units, as well as providing strategic compliance activities in line with the annual compliance audit plan.

Under the direction of the waste & Sustainability Manager, you are responsible for performing audit activities designed to assess and test the adequacy of the internal controls, records, policies, procedures, and processes in place across the organisation and in line with policy and due process.

Your primary responsibility is to develop, prepare and conduct advanced auditing work for on-site and desk review compliance and controls. Duties include the testing and investigating, by reviewing records, reports, information systems, and management practices of organisations in order to ensure legal compliance and rules and organisational policies and procedures are being adhered too.

You will need strong interpersonal skills ability to liaise effectively with people in different disciplines and jurisdictions as well as a proven track record of managing relationships.

You will have a broad portfolio of audit responsibilities as well as onward communications and escalations. . The role will offer you the opportunity to work with leading departmental professionals as well as operation staff. An excellent opportunity for someone that wants more from their role.

Main duties of the job

Ability to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations for analysed data Ability to gather information by examining records and documents and interviewing individuals.

Performs audits of moderately complex areas and processes, including regulatory compliance audits, requiring application of specialised knowledge gained through experience or specific study

Working in conjunction with the Waste & Sustainability Manager, summarizes audit results and participates in communicating audit results (both written and verbal) to the appropriate level of management

Strong written and verbal communication

Performs detailed examinations of audit documentation

Ability to work, interact, and work well with others

Effective oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to compose clear and concise audit reports, to gather and analyse accurate and relevant audit information, to evaluate accounting and management operations systems for accuracy and legal conformance, to accurately complete and assemble audit working papers, to communicate effectively, and draw valid conclusions.

About us

QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).

In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

Plans and conducts independent internal audits and reviews in support of the Companys annual internal audit plan, including leading and participating in a wide variety, operational, regulatory, and specialty audits.

To ensure that the relevant and appropriate advise is given to all steak holder and they are aware of the key pieces of guidance and legislation in the areas of Estates, Facilities and Health and Safety.

Develops audit test programs and performs audit tests to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls.

Performs research to understand and summarise laws and regulations or other requirements and assesses if functions and programs being evaluated are in compliance.

Our Auditor must be meticulous and analytical. Identifies control gaps and tests the design of existing controls

Maintains positive team relationship by demonstrating and supporting initiative, willingness to learn, flexibility, respect, cooperation and commitment to the success of the internal audit process ensure compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation

Complete audit work papers by documenting audit tests and findings and liabilities by comparing items to documentation

Appraise adequacy of internal control systems by completing audit questionnaires

Maintain internal control systems by updating audit programs and questionnaires; recommending new policies and procedures

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Strong interpersonal skills and the technical ability to learn quickly on the job. Ambitious, but can work well in a team and are proactive in managing their own development.

Strong report writing skills and the ability to express ideas and simplify complex issues are essential.

Must have confidence in dealing with partners and clients, with the ability to work under pressure in a friendly environment.

The successful candidate will constantly be exposed to different technical issues, different clients and different teams within the group.
