To carry out a wide range of duties covering all aspects of plumbing, including the installation, planned preventative, daily maintenance and repair of sanitary fittings and the immediate supply pipework, waste and drainage systems within and attached to buildings, metalwork, roofs and flashing and rainwater gutters and pipes.
Main duties of the job
- Interpret and work from ALL instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to the plumbing craft, without supervision.
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and breakdown maintenance to all aspects of plumbing, installations, drainage and associated services, including work of a technical and/or non-routine nature.
- Actively participate in the operation of QE Facilities helpdesk, including the timely completion of work dockets via a PDA (hand held computer).which will include job sheets with Tradesman's report, time taken and materials used for costing purposes.
- Measure, prepare quantities, manufacture, assemble, erect and install new work appropriate to the plumbing trade using relevant equipment without supervision.
- Perform a limited range of work allied to other craftsmen, and, as appropriate, to his range of work.
- Instruct others on aspects of his work relating to his original trade (labourer, plumbers mate).
- Erecting and dismantling modular scaffolding to undertake work.
- Isolating and disconnecting electrical connections to appliances to effect plumbing repairs or replacement.
- Undertake fault finding on equipment and report outcome.
- Ensure the mains and internal drainage systems are in working order including clearing blockages and regular checks of problematic areas.
