Job summary

Summary of the Role:

Works within the Procurement and Logistics department that supports QE Facilities and Gateshead NHS Foundation trust. The role sits within the strategic contracting arm of the function concentrating on supporting the leasing, maintenance and estates contracting work.

The role is to act as a Junior Procurement specialist within the department ensuring that contract renewals are identified, reviewed and necessary actions put in place before they lapse and create a risk. You will support the Supervisor and Procurement manager in larger projects with data analysis, updates but also lead projects working with the senior members of the team to ensure compliance and governance is followed. You will be responsible for delivering efficiency savings and cost savings within agreements and will be responsible for ensuring value for money through negotiation and other processes and tools available.

The role will work very closely with other key internal stakeholders - Medical Engineering, Estates, Facilities and other clinical areas. Building relationships and understanding requirements to ensure we procure the right solution and provide the right guidance.

The role will be supported by full training and also the expectation of personal professional development around CIPS and other training.

Main duties of the job

Implement procurement processes

  • Take responsibility for spend analysis reports.
  • Responsibility for maintaining the relevant internal databases
  • Responsibility for managing own contract portfolio
  • Complete quotation exercises using the e tendering portal.
  • Negotiate with suppliers in line with EU legislation and commercial and contact law/SFI.
  • Achieve cost savings through the use of procurement and sourcing solutions.

    Assist in sourcing suppliers

    • Carry out quotation exercise would offer better value.
    • Carry out renewals and bench marking in good time as to no risk the business
    • Negotiate with suppliers and user departments to ensure optimum value for money and transparent decision making.
    • Develop and enhance key supplier relationships and explore new business opportunities.

    . Deal with queries and unpaid invoices.

QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).

In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.
