Job summary
We are looking for an HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to join our dedicated Team in the Infection & Immunity Laboratory on the Charing Cross Hospital site.
The laboratory offers the opportunity to work in a well-equipped environment with a high level of automation for Virology and Immunology testing and in this role, you'll be instrumental in maintaining and developing the high-quality services our laboratory provides, ensuring our clinical users receive the best care possible. You will also play a crucial role in maintaining our department's quality systems and maintaining UKAS accreditation.
Applications are sought from self-motivated individuals with relevant laboratory experience and we will be appointing this post at Band 6 if the successful applicant has completed the IBMS Specialist Diploma in the relevant discipline (Virology or Immunology).

As this post is dual banded, appointment at Band 5 can be made with the post holder moving to a Band 6 Specialist BMS on completion of their Specialist Portfolio. Completion of the Portfolio is expected for this role.
A Trainee at Band 5 may also be considered if they are close to completion of the HCPC Registration Portfolio (once registered, to take on full responsibilities of the role, including the weekend rota).
Main duties of the job
- Collaborate effectively within the department to deliver a professional clinical laboratoryservice.
- Perform core scientific and interpretive work in line with the qualifications of a RegisteredHealthcare Scientist.
- Participate in appropriate training courses and continuous professional development (CPD)programmes.
- Supervise unqualified staff and deputise for section leaders as needed.
- Provide specialist clinical technical services, including involvement in research and auditactivities.
- Delivery of comprehensive diagnostic services while maintaining high standards of safetyand quality.

NWLP Induction
The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
