Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic candidate to join our team in the Department of Microbiology at Charing Cross Hospital.

You must be HCPC registered and possess relevant professional qualifications to degree level or equivalent and either an MSc, FIBMS or equivalent in a relevant discipline and at least 5 years of demonstrable experience within all routine sections in Microbiology.

Possession of any specialist skills or knowledge will be an advantage.

You must have excellent technical, interpersonal and IT skills and exhibit a commitment to the development of your specialist discipline.

You must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and/or as part of a team.

Please include in your supporting statement all contributions made to service improvement, your vision and direction for the future and qualities that you will bring as an additional member to the first line management team.

Main duties of the job

1. Manage daily operations of a laboratory section under the Laboratory Manager'sguidance, ensuring efficient service delivery.

2. Collaborate with team members to provide a professional clinical laboratory service andsupport departmental objectives.

3. Develop professional expertise and specialist skills, while training and supervising staffto uphold high standards.

4. Coordinate specialist clinical technical and scientific services, including research andaudits, while fostering a culture of quality compliance with accrediting and regulatorystandards.

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
