We have permanent opportunities for a Maintenance Craftsperson with joinery and
maintenance experience to join our Operational Estates Department.
In the role you will carry
out planned preventative maintenance, repair work and provide a first-class
service on a wide range of plant and equipment throughout the hospital and the
wider community.

Main duties of the job
Youll be part of the Barnsley Operational Estates Services Team,
working in Barnsley Hospital. Were looking for a team member who wants to
develop; previous experience is essential and experience of working in the
public sector advantageous however training and support is a priority to us.

personal qualities that support the Barnsley Hospital way of working. As a Floor
Fitter/Maintenance Craftsperson you will become an active member of our team
working closely with other disciplines. Youll have the chance to progress and
learn new skills. What really matters to us is providing every one of our

delivers the right outcome - and we achieve this every day.

for applicants that have a positive can-do attitude and that are flexible to
work in all areas of the hospital contributing to the team effort of keeping

- Completed City & Guilds trade certificate
- Completed NVQ level 3 trade certificate or apprenticeship for floor fitting or equivalent level of knowledge
- Good standard of general education, e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grades A-C or equivalent
Desirable
- Moving and handling Certificate
- First Aid
- Portable Appliance Testing
- Asbestos Awareness
- Fire door approved installer/certifier

- Significant experience post successful completion of floor fitting apprenticeship
- Working from allocated job cards to prioritise workload
- Experience of dealing with the public
- Previous experience in building services maintenance environment
- Wide knowledge of all aspects of core trade & building maintenance
- Full awareness of regulations relating to health and safety
- Able to work to prescribed procedures and protocols but shows initiative when dealing with unexpected occurrences
