The procurement team at Barnsley Facilities Services are looking for a Category Manager to work within our Non-Clinical Procurement team. We are looking for a dynamic, Category Manager to join our friendly team to support with the procurement of Non-Clinical goods and services

The successful candidate will provide an effective and efficient procurement service across a range of stakeholders in a non-clinical setting. The post holder will be responsible for executing mid to high-value tenders and contracts for goods and services, achieving the most advantages outcomes for the Trust.

Main duties of the job

You will have working knowledge and experience of procurement in the public sector, you will have relevant experience of working in line with national procurement legislation and able to work within the framework of the Trusts Standing Financial Instructions and standing orders.

You will act as one of the Trust experts on mid to high value categories of spend by taking the lead on competitive quotations and tender exercises with values both above and below the, current procurement thresholds utilising the Atamis e-tendering portal.

You will be a key member of the team who will provide procurement and supply advice, in a confident professional manner, promoting good working relationships in line with BFS values.

You will manage a small group of operational buyers ensuring customer are receiving a responsive, cost effective service. As part of your managerial role, you will monitor workload of the category buyers, ensuring work is allocated in an equitable manner.

You will be a pivotal member of the team, contributing to the Trusts cost improvement plan by demonstrating best value for money for the Trust, ensuring savings and cost avoidance initiatives are documented.

You will have the opportunity to participate in cross-ICS procurements and ICS groups within your category of expertise.
