Job summary
Do you want to make a real difference to hospital patients? Are you enthusiastic and eager to learn? We have a permanent opportunity for a Water Hygiene Technician within our Operational Estates Department for an individual experienced in all things water related to join our Engineering Team.
In the role you will carry out all planned preventative maintenance activities related to water services.. You will trouble shoot, diagnose and carry out repairs throughout the hospital and the wider community. The role also attracts a non-contractual attendance bonus.
Youll be part of the Barnsley Operational Estates Services Team, working in Barnsley Hospital. Were looking for ateam member who want to develop; previous experience is essential however training and support is a priority to us. As a Water Hygiene Technician you will become an active member of our team working closely with other disciplines. Youll have the chance to progress and learn new skills. Main duties of the job
The role involves:
Carrying out an audit of our water outlets, to ensure that the information that we hold is current and accurate on both paper and electronic systems.
Ensuring a robust asset management system is continually updated.
Carrying out flushing of low use & high count (Legionella and Pseudomonas) outlets.
Carrying out temperature monitoring checks to outlets, tanks, circulation and main lines.
Carrying out periodic replacement of shower heads & hoses.
Carrying out periodic legionella and pseudomonas sampling and ensure samples are delivered/collected to a laboratory.
Carrying out chlorination of pipework/water systems has required.
Maintaining Chlorine Dioxide or other chemical dosing systems.
Interpreting Legionella and Pseudomonas sampling results and carry out actions in line with HTM 04-01, HSG274 following any positive results.
Carrying out testing and servicing thermostatic mixing valves/taps to ensure optimal performance.
Carrying out safe isolation of water services when required and be able to communicate with stakeholders.
Carrying the repair and replacement of system components where identified upon failure, maintenance or for descaling/disinfection.
Carrying out the installation and removal of sanitary ware items.
Assisting 3rd party contractors in cold water storage tank inspections, cleaning and chlorinating.
Carrying out annual drop testing of cold-water storage tanks.
Carrying out testing/checks on RPZ valves.
