Do you want to make a real difference to hospital patients? Are you enthusiastic and eager to learn? We have permanent opportunities for Maintenance workers within our Operational Estates Department for experienced Electrical staff to join our Engineering Team.

Starting Salary basic: £33,981.00 pa pro/rata

Additional non-contractual attendance bonus: £1,000/annum

On call allowance premium: Circa £2,000/annum

Plus: circa £3,000+ for attending on call

The shift pattern for the role is:

06.00-14.00

08.00-16.00

10.00-18.00

On call requirements for evenings, nights and weekends to provide a 24/7 service.

In the role, you will carry out all planned preventative maintenance activities related to the electrical infrastructure of an hospital site.. You will trouble shoot, diagnose and carry out repairs throughout the hospital and the wider community. The role also attracts a non-contractual attendance bonus.

Youll be part of the Barnsley Operational Estates Services Team, based at and working in Barnsley Hospital. With requirements to maintain satellite buildings such as the Barnsley Community Diagnostic Centre. Were looking for a team member who wants to develop; previous experience is essential however training and support are a priority to us. Youll have the chance to progress and learn new skills.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role are to diligently carry out high-quality maintenance activities ensuring that our patients, staff, and visitors are safe and are in a comfortable environment.

You will use your Electrical Engineering skills to carry out proactive planned maintenance of ventilation, heating, cooling, building management, medical gas, steam raising, and nurse call systems. You will also carry out reactive tasks within KPI and SLA targets ensuring that our customers are satisfied with the work that has been carried out.

You will operate safely demonstrating an exemplary safety-minded culture, complying with various and relevant legislations, regulations, Health Technical Memorandums, and best practice guidance.

You will be required to carry trust electronic devices to receive work orders and accurately complete documentation and records. You will communicate clearly with all hospital staff when arranging maintenance activities and be able to provide assurances to maintenance leads.

  • To hole IET 18th Edition Certificate.

Desirable

  • Additional trade relevant certification e.g. Heating, Ventilation, Refrigeration, Building Management Systems.
  • Accredited HTM Competent Person Course.
  • Resuscitation/First Aid Training.
  • Infection Control Awareness Training.

Experience

Essential

  • Must be able to demonstrate suitable post apprenticeship experience in non-routine maintenance of complex engineering plant and equipment with a broad understanding of other trade disciplines.
  • Experience of liaison with and supervising building and engineering contractors.

Desirable

  • Computer systems experience.
  • Previous experience in a hospital maintenance environment with exposure to all building and engineering aspects.
