This
role is for an electro-mechanical technician that has curiosity about medical
devices and healthcare, and a passion to make a difference in patients lives.
You
will be a member of a multi-disciplined team providing a medical equipment
management service.
This
post provides repair, calibration,
maintenance, safety and acceptance testing and scheduled preventative
maintenance to a wide range of medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment in
the Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the wider community. Clinical equipment covered incorporates electrical, electronic,
mechanical, pneumatic, computer hardware and software and medical gas systems.
The postholder is required to work to high standards of safety and
accountability.
Your duties
shall include assisting in the acceptance testing and
planned preventative maintenance, inspection, calibration and repair of
electro-medical equipment such as nebulisers, temperature
monitors, SPo2 monitors etc.
Technically
competent to carry out procedures on medical equipment, using a range of
electronic/mechanical test equipment. Undertake and apply suitable
fault-finding techniques to diagnose problems, report novel fault conditions to
the manager.
The
postholder liaises with clinical and technical staff to identify faults and
repair equipment, including working in clinical areas and working with
manufacturers and their agents as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
Your
duties shall include (but are not limited to) assisting in the acceptance
testing and planned preventative maintenance (PPM), inspection, calibration and
repair of allocated electro-medical equipment.
Complete
necessary training.
Undertake
and supply suitable fault-finding to diagnose problems, report novel fault
conditions to the manager.
Rectify
faults employing fine tools, test equipment and materials in an accurate and
precise manner.
Check
that the equipment performs to manufacturers specification.
Carry
out calibration, quality control, safety and acceptance testing to MHRA DB2005
(06).
Carry
out electrical safety checks to IEC 60601 standards
Liaise
with manufacturers to obtain information and provide feedback on equipment
performance.
Take
responsibility for all tools and equipment within the postholders care.
Ensure

To
assist EBME colleagues in their role
To
maintain detailed computer/written records of all work undertaken.
Develop
an awareness of the cost implications involved in the role.
Develop
knowledge of current standards, mandatory regulations and guidelines relating
to medical equipment.
To
assist, when necessary in dealing with safety bulletins and clinical adverse
incidents involving medical equipment.
To
exhibit a flexible approach to working hours, in order to accommodate the
contingencies of the EMBE team.
To
ensure that the decontamination policy is adhered to.
There
may be a requirement in this role to travel to other sites.
