We are seeking a motivated, experienced and enthusiastic person to join
our busy team that service and manage a wide range of Decontamination
Equipment, from autoclaves to washer-disinfectors.
The current vacancy is a post at Barnsley Facilities Services that is a
wholly owned subsidiary of Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The
successful applicant will be based in the Decontamination unit of Barnsley
Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
You will have practical experience with electro mechanical equipment
maintenance (Appliances, Decontamination Equipment, Automobiles, ) and hold a
minimum BTEC qualification or equivalent Electro Mechanical engineering
qualification. The successful applicant will also possess good general practical
skills and have a sound knowledge of a broad range of electro-mechanical
equipment. Good communication and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite.

Main duties of the job
The post is primarily concerned with
providing repair, calibration, maintenance, safety and acceptance testing and
scheduled preventative maintenance to a wide range of medical and
decontamination equipment in the Barnsley Hospital Trust, to ensure
medical and decontamination equipment operates effectively and safely with a
minimum of risk and downtime. Decontamination equipment covered incorporates
electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, computer hardware and software
and steam supply systems. The post holder is required to work to high standards
of safety and accountability.
The
post holder liaises with clinical, Decontamination and technical staff to
identify faults and repair equipment.
Main
duties are to act as the Competent Person (Decontamination) (CP(D)) as defined
in Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 01-01 and HTM 01-06 and responsible for undertaking periodic
inspections and testing of all decontamination equipment as required in
compliance with HTM 01-01 and HTM 01-06 and other relevant guidance and
standards. Ensuring that robust and detailed records are maintained of all
activities and tests. These being available for inspection by the Authorised
Person (Decontamination (AP(D)) and the Authorising Engineer (Decontamination)
(AE(D)), for external decontamination accreditation and for an audit trail.
Reporting to the Medical Engineering Manager in all matters relating to
decontamination at the Trust and to closely liaise with the Decontamination
Manager.
