An opportunity
has arisen within the CHoICE Procurement Services - Materials Management team
for a Stock Controller providing an efficient and reliable Materials Management
Service using bar code data capture technology to replenish products in
accordance with agreed procedures.
The Stock
Controller role provides invaluable procurement support to the hospital sites.
This role involves having responsibility for managing an efficient and
effective inbound and outbound delivery service to the Trusts Operating Theatre
Departments in the hospital localities, (Some service provision to other
departments will be required at times).
The role will
predominately be based within the Operating Theatre Department at Sunderland
Royal Hospital but will require attendance at other locations.
You will need
to be able to work under your own initiative without close supervision, be
literate and numerate with excellent customer service and organisational
skills.
We are looking
for the successful candidate to assist in the development of a new Materials
Management function provided initially to the Operating Theatre Directorate.
Candidates
should have some experience of stock control and be highly motivated to
providing a first class materials management service to ensure that clinical
services can be delivered effectively.

Main duties of the job
To work under
the guidance and direction of the Materials Management Supervisor and provide
support to the day to day running of the overall Materials Management service.
The role is
responsible for the ordering, receiving and storing of goods used within the
Operating Theatres as part of CHoICE Procurements fully managed service, the
Materials Management Service is the management of Ward / Department stocks to
defined inventory levels, maximising benefits on price breaks, reducing cost,
improving quality and providing a seamless service to our internal customers.
This is a
physically demanding post which involves manual handling activities such as
lifting, carrying, and unpacking of boxes. The role also involves the use of
multiple computer systems so basic I.T skills are a requirement.
The Materials
Management Service runs Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00
and the Procurement Department offers a flexible working policy.
