Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to work as a Porter within the Portering team, working 40 hours per week, based mainly at South Tyneside District Hospital, South Shields.

The post holders must be flexible in order to meet the needs of the service as the service is operational 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, and there is a requirement to work shifts, usually over five days with two days off.

Main duties of the job

The Post holder will undertake all Portering duties, as defined within the job description ,with the aim being to provide an efficient and effective service to patients and staff, in order to ensure high standards are met and in accordance with Health and Safety legislation across the various Trust premises, whilst treating everyone with dignity, respect and recognising individual differences whilst adhering to and demonstrating the expected behaviour in accordance with the CHoICE Behavioural compact, values and visions.

The post holder must be flexible to meet the needs of the service, as the service is operational 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, and there is a requirement to work shifts, usually over five days with two days off.

The shifts are: -

0600 1430

1330 2200

2130 0600

0830 1630 or 0900 - 1730

There may also be the opportunity to work at the following venues, during periods of annual leave and sickness, in order to meet the needs of the service: -

Palmer Community Hospital, Jarrow

St Benedicts Hospice, Ryhope, Sunderland.

Sunderland Royal Hospital

Sunderland Eye Infirmary
