Job summary
This is an exciting time to
be joining Choice Facilities Services at Sunderland Royal Hospital as a Higher
Security Officer.
This post provides an excellent opportunity for an
enthusiastic self-motivated and
proactive person to join an already established highly skilled team, to support
the delivery of security services to provide
a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and healthcare staff within the hospital.
This
role is 40 hours per week working over a four week rota shift pattern. The post
holder will be required after training to work within the well-established
security team to cover weekends, unsocial hours including night duty and public
holidays.
The ideal candidate will hold an SIA door
supervisor licence and or be willing to undertake SIA CCTV licence training.
They must hold a driving licence as well as literacy and numeracy skills to level 1.
You should be a good communicator and be able
to defuse potentially confrontational situations. You must be able to undertake manual handling
task and be able to work on your own and within a team. You should be self-motivated, flexible,
helpful and customer focused. The post
is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
Main duties of the job
The Ideal Candidate will have the following:
Hold an
SIA door supervisor licence.
Hold an SIA
CCTV licence training or be willing to undertake.
Hold a
driving licence as well as literacy and
numeracy skills to level 1.
Experience of conflict management, violence and aggression as well as
negotiation and calming skills to de-escalate a violent/potentially violent
situation.
Able to use initiative
when faced with an emergency situation.
You

undertake manual handling task and be able to work on your own and within a
team. You should be self-motivated,

Hospital to assist in the protection of patients, staff and visitors.
The post holder must hold
a valid Security Industry Authority licence to undertake this role.
The role includes:
Responding to requests from wards and departments for support in handling
violent/potentially violent incidents, of those in fear of physical harm, scenes of
actual or suspected crime where personal injury is involved, or a crime in progress.
Staffing of the security control room, which includes monitoring of CCTV,
answering any queries from both the public and staff and key management.
Proactively patrol of the internal and external sites, securing buildings.
To provide information and assistance to staff, patients and visitors on Security.
Assist in the prevention of crime.
Respond to emergency incidents including fire.
General Car Parking Duties.
Assisting in the vision to create a safe place to work, visit and stay.
Minimum weekly collection of cash boxes from payment machines with weights in
excess of 20k.
