Job summary
South
Tyneside District Hospital is looking to recruit 2 Hotel Services Assistants
who will be required to work and provide cover for the following departments:
Laundry
(delivering linen on-site and assisting in the linen room) 06.00-14.00
Transport
(Courier Driver delivering and collecting various mail across Tyne & Wear) 07.30-15.30
A
full clean UK driving licence is required. A flexible approach to work and work
routine is essential as you will be expected to cover several different
areas/roles, possibly in the same day. Your work base will be South Tyneside. This
is a cover role. You will provide cover for linen & laundry & transport
during holidays and sickness absence. On some occasions you may be required to
support the delivery and collection of patient food trolleys.
Starting
Salary £11.45 per hour plus enhancements
27
Days annual leave and up to 8 bank holidays (pro-rata)
Main duties of the job
To be flexible on a day to day
basis moving area to area and across departments (within laundry and
transport)
Drive Trust vehicle delivering and
collecting mail, samples and patient notes etc.
Store and deliver linen across the
South Tyneside site to wards and departments
To provide transport
services across to South Tyneside, and local GPS, Clinics and hospitals,
according to an agreed schedule and ad hoc items
Must
adhere to speed limits and road signage. There is no time pressure or
expectation to drive above the speed limit or break and road traffic
regulations. Feedback to General Office any difficulties or problems when time
is an issue.
Daily routine checks to
vehicle, reporting any faults or requirements as necessary
Delivery linen to wards
throughout South Tyneside District Hospital
Assist with linen
storage when deliveries arrive

medical gases and personal belongings to patients homes e.g. patients residence, Care
Home, Residential Home
Store and deliver linen to wards and departments.
Be part of the linen team actively support linen colleagues adopting a flexible attitude and
approach to work
Be ready to change deliveries and collections to suit the linen service
Be polite and courteous when delivering to clinical areas, supporting and assisting where
necessary. The linen delivery and collection is the sole responsibility of the linen team
