Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the Financial Accounting team within Health Education and Improvement Wales. The post will support the Financial Accountant in providing a high-quality service to the finance team and the wider organisation. The role will give the individual experience of a wide-range of financial tasks and is a great opportunity to broaden their accountancy skills.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including: -

  • Administration and maintenance of the Accounts Receivable system, including the management and recovery of external debts.
  • Contributing to the Accounts Payable processes through resolving queries with invoices, maintaining invoice on hold reports and monitoring compliance of the Public Sector Payment Policy (PSPP) targets.
  • Assisting the Financial Accountant in maintaining the financial accounting processes, including ensuring all transactions are properly recorded within the ORACLE system.
  • Preparing and inputting journals for entry into the general ledger.
  • Undertaking monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting in the production of working papers for the HEIW Annual Report.
  • Assisting in the Agreement of Balances exercise for the Health Board in accordance with the timetable.
  • Managing the Scheme of delegation and approval levels and ensuring the financial system reflects the authorised position.

The post holder will also be required to provide support to other roles within the Finance Department and other departments within HEIW as necessary.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
