Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Planning and Performance team who support HEIWs Strategic Planning, Performance, Programme Management and Sustainability activities. This role is within a central enabling team and provides a great opportunity for exposure to multiple areas of the organisation and skills development in areas of work that are central to the NHS Wales transformation agenda.
This is a full-time, permanent post, providing expert leadership, advice, and support to develop the annual Education and Training Plan. The team has far reaching impact across the organisation and the postholder will collaborate with key stakeholders to support the creation of training and education recommendations that address the requirements for the healthcare workforce supply, on behalf of the NHS Wales system.
We are looking for someone with excellent organisation, communications and negotiation skills who enjoys engagement with stakeholders and strategic planning. A continuous improvement mindset would be an asset in this team which actively steers ways of working and seeks to simplify where appropriate to drive efficiency.
Main duties of the job
1.The postholder will provide expert leadership, advice, and support to develop the annual Education and Training Plan on behalf of NHS Wales.
2.They will provide expert advice and guidance to the Senior Responsible Officers across the organisation in developing and delivering the organisation's Integrated Medium-Term Plan (IMTP), operational plans, performance management and programme management for their relevant Directorates.
3.They will support the aims and objectives of the Planning and Performance Team, including embedding and developing programme management expertise to enable high-quality consistent delivery of the organisation's strategic aims, taking a lead for programme management training with the other planning and performance business partners.
4.The postholder will lead and manage their own team of staff and will require influencing, change management and negotiation skills to work with teams across the organisation, and external stakeholders including Welsh Government and Health Boards and Trusts to ensure that excellent plans are developed and delivered.
5.The postholder will support the Assistant Director of Planning and Performance to manage the planning and performance team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
