We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to join our team as the Associate Director of Workforce Transformation, with a focus on Nursing and Midwifery. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in shaping current and future strategies and plans to enable and support the nursing and midwifery professions to meet the everchanging needs of populations and respond to the changing landscape of health and care delivery.
As the Professional workforce lead you will apply your professional, clinical and service knowledge, expertise, and experience to directly influence and set the direction of workforce development and transformation for the nursing and midwifery professional groups. You will be accountable for ensuring HEIW provides a national offer of support to drive innovation, development and transformation of sustainable workforce solutions aimed at improving the quality of care to patients. You will be the lead for the design, development and implementation of major workforce programmes across Wales formulating long term strategic plans and will be the expert in their field.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure effective arrangements are in place for the delivery of workforce modernisation programmes across primary, community and secondary care in support of A Healthier Wales, NHS Wales National Programmes, Welsh Government priorities, Duty of Quality, NHS Wales in 10+ years.
- Manage a complex set of stakeholder relationships required to deliver changes across education, service, government and private/industry sectors, this will include working with clinicians, director-level managers and private organisations.
- To be a visible leader facilitating and engaging staff and clinicians to contribute to the overall strategic direction of workforce and education improvement/ transformation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Higher Degree - Masters level education or equivalent
- Extensive Knowledge/ experience of the nursing and midwifery agenda acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience.
- Extensive specialist knowledge required over all nursing and midwifery matters as well as the wider health professional workforce.
- Sound knowledge of the NHS, current Government policies, workforce related initiatives

- Experience of working at a senior level within the nursing and midwifery profession
- An understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy in Wales and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
