Clinical Scientific Computing (Physical Sciences)

Based at the Tritech Institute within Hywel Dda University Health Board.

The successful trainees will be based by the coast, in proximity to Swansea University & the University of Wales Trinity St David. The department has a very strong link with Swansea University & the University of Wales Trinity St David with an active established research collaboration.

Based within the MEMS Department (Medical Equipment Management Services) within Swansea Bay University Health Board.

The MEMS department includes medical equipment management, medical device training and renal technology service. The department has a portfolio of computer connectivity and medical device networking and very strong link with Swansea University with an active established research collaboration.

The successful candidates will be enrolled on a fully funded part-time vocational master's degree in the chosen specialism, (Clinical Scientific Computing - Physical Sciences). You will be required to travel to University for block teaching sessions (or undertake learning remotely), in line with the University's teaching requirements. You will also have work-based learning and training where you develop and apply your academic knowledge and skills in the NHS workplace. There may be times where you will be required to work remotely. This HEIW (Health Education and Improvement Wales) fully funded programme is equivalent to that of the STP programme in England. Main duties of the job

Candidates should have qualifications relevant to Clinical Engineering or Computer Science.

Previous experience working in a clinical environment is desirable but not essential for these posts, as appropriate training will be provided during the course of the programme.

On completion of training, prospects for permanent employment within Wales are excellent. For individuals with aptitude and commitment there are opportunities to progress through the career pathway to Consultant Clinical Scientist. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are motivated to pursue their career within Wales.
