NHS Wales - Trainee Clinical Scientists - Clinical Engineering (Rehabilitation Engineering OR Device Risk Management and Governance)

The NHS in Wales is offering five salaried post-graduate training programmes for high calibre engineering graduates who are passionate about science, engineering and its role in patient care.
Main duties of the job
The training posts are in the Clinical Engineering speciality, and offer the sub-specialisms of Rehabilitation Engineering OR Device Risk Management and Governance.
- Rehabilitation Engineering provides the chance to work closely with patients; providing engineering solutions to their complex needs to enhance their mobility, posture and pressure management
- Device Risk Management and Governance (DRMG) supports an in-house team of engineers, scientists, and researchers aiming to translate innovative medical technologies into patient benefit
Applicants must have a 1st or 2.1 either in an undergraduate honours degree, or an integrated masters degree, in an engineering discipline. Applicants with a relevant 2.2 honours degree will also be considered if they have a higher degree in a relevant subject.
This post is fixed term for 3 years to meet the needs of the service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Trainees are enrolled for a fully funded part-time vocational masters degree, currently provided at Kings College, London. Trainees may be required to rotate through other areas which will involve secondments at other locations. On completion of training, prospects for permanent employment within Wales are excellent. For individuals with aptitude and commitment there are opportunities to progress through the career pathway to Consultant Clinical Scientist. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are motivated to pursue their career within Wales.
The training is aligned with the Scientific Training Programme (STP) and supported by the National School of Healthcare Science.

- Applicants must have an honours degree (1st or 2.1) in a pure or applied science relevant to the specialism for which they are applying. Applicants with a relevant 2.2 degree will also be considered if they have an MSc or PhD in the specialism for which they are applying.
