Main duties of the job
Audit & Assurance delivers a professional internal audit, assurance and consulting service to the NHS in Wales.
The main duties of the Deputy Head of Internal Audit include:Responsibility for the operational provision of an Internal Audit service to a number of NHS organisations based in South Wales to be determined in agreement with the Director of Audit & Assurance.To help the Head of Internal Audit to formulate both strategic (three year) and operational plans based on an 'Audit Needs Assessment/Risk Assessment.'
To support the production of an Audit Plan linked to the organisations' Risk Management and Assurance Frameworks. Preparation of complex information and progress reports for inclusion within the Audit Committee Agendas. Attendance will be required at Audit Committees to present audit reports along with or instead of the relevant Head of Internal Audit.To be responsible for the performance and operation of the team (including any specialist audit services such as IM&T and capital & estates) to ensure that the requirements of the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards and the Code of Ethics are achieved, and that performance meets the requirement of external audit.
Manage the team's delivery against planned commitments and monitoring of quality and performance against agreed key performance indicators.
