Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, Payroll Team currently based in Companies House, Crown Way Cardiff. The successful post holder will work as part of a payroll team providing a payroll service to NHS Wales organisations. Knowledge of payroll processes and procedures will be required including statutory deductions and payments.

The successful post holder will have an opportunity to work from home for some of the hours therefore a reliable home broadband connection will be required, however there will also be a requirement to attend the Base on a rota basis, and for the first 4 weeks there will be a requirement to attend the base on a daily basis.

The position is offered at full time 37.5 hours, however part time hours can be considered.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to cover a wide range of Payroll duties including payment of employees in line with Agenda For Change /Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions; update employee assignment; assess/calculate sick/ maternity/paternity/adoption entitlement; application of statutory deductions/payments. Application of Attachment of Earnings Orders. Respond to employee/manger enquiries.

Payroll is managed via the Electronic Staff Record . Work is allocated on a rota basis, including employee data input/verification; verify payments via Retro Pay Process; verify net pay comparison. Requirement to use Microsoft Excel Files including file creation/ formatting and upload into ESR.

Requirement to attend the office to manage/action mail; distribute payslips/P45s and team training sessions.

Training will be provided.

Applicants should be educated to GCSE standard in a minimum of 5 or equivalent, subjects including English and Maths at grade C and above.Proficient IT application skills particularly in Microsoft packages and E packages are essential. Have an IT qualification including Microsoft Excel or demonstrate sound working experience/knowledge. The successful candidate will be numerate, analytical, organised, technically minded and motivated with the ability to work on their own initiative as well as being a team player.
