Job summary

The NHS Counter Fraud Service (CFS) Wales is responsible for the detection, investigation and the prevention of economic crime in NHS Wales. NHS CFS Wales has a vacancy for an accredited counter fraud specialist or an experienced fraud investigator to join the successful team which is based at Mamhilad Park Estate near Pontypool.

Applicants will display a good knowledge of investigative work, with relevant experience of criminal investigations in the public or private sector. They will demonstrate an awareness of current economic crime risks to the NHS and will possess extensive investigative and analytical skills with recent experience of the preparation and submission of prosecution files to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will display a good knowledge of current fraud detection and investigation techniques to support the appropriate criminal, civil or disciplinary sanctions. They will demonstrate experience of attending courts or disciplinary hearings and providing evidence in a competent manner.

The successful applicant will be a good communicator with excellent written and oral presentation skills and be prepared to work flexibly to attend training events or work away from home.They will work closely with Local Counter Fraud Specialists (LCFS) at health bodies in NHS Wales and with other investigative bodies. They will be capable of briefing on complex fraud issues to various audiences, including senior NHS Managers or key stakeholders, and will display a good range of IT skills and high levels of energy and commitment.

They will work flexibly in accordance with the NWSSP agile working policy and may be required to travel to conduct enquiries or attend training events to obtain key accreditation or maintain CPD qualifications .
