Job summary
To contribute to the Procurement processes by bringing in a commercial business approach within the local health board and NWSSP, NHS Wales Procurement services.
This will involve liaison with user departments and NWSSP at all levels (including Category and Supply chain teams) to promote procurement input and a commercial approach into partner organisations' business plans at the earliest opportunity. These processes will include being able to identify current market trends and commercial business opportunities, from business data analytics and engagement with key suppliers/stakeholders.
The post holder will support the Procurement Business Manager on procurement issues, key projects and improved commercial contract management, ensuring compliance under the governance of the Health Board's standing financial instructions.
Main duties of the job
The role will require candidates to work towards understanding the respective business/category area, market, suppliers, product and services, developing an in-depth knowledge of the respective business spend area, contracts and legal compliance. To be successful in this role you should have experience of a purchasing role or a commercial role or a customer service role and demonstrate positive communication, business acumen, time management and the ability to get things done.
The post holder will ensure that the service they provide is sensitive, responsive, and flexible to the changing needs of NHS Wales, whilst balanced against the Health Board's priorities and financial budget. The main task being to provide an effective professional focus leading to the achievement of National, NWSSP and local agreed targets, efficiencies and added value initiatives.
Working closely with the Procurement business partner and Purchase to Pay(P2P) lead, supporting the Health Board training to increase understanding of both Procurement and P2P processes.
