Job summary

Are you the dynamic and motivated colleague that the Welsh Risk Pool is seeking to support or learning assurance and case reimbursement functions?

The person selected to this role will join a very experienced Welsh Risk Pool Operations and Safety & Learning team and will get involved in a number of very interesting areas of work.

Promoting effective learning from adverse events is a core element of this role and we are seeking an experienced NHS governance practitioner to help support all health bodies in NHS Wale

Main duties of the job

The role will be responsible for supporting the learning assurance and case reimbursement programme

You will assist in the provision of training for practitioners across the complaints handling, redress and claims management and risk management. This will involve technical training and user-level training as required in both face-to-face and virtual settings.

The succesful post holder will also be required to support the review of Learning from Events Reports and Case Management Reports submitted to the WRP. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the Learning Advisory Panel, and prepare recommendations on for approval or deferal of the matter by the WRP Committee.

Taking responsibility for coordinating the WRP Assessment programme, the postholder will work with specialist practitioners to plan and execute the programme of reviews of concerns management.

With a strong background in the governance and / or quality sector, you will assist in the design and development of best working practice.

Essential

  • Degree in an appropriate discipline equivalent experience
  • ECDL qualification or equivalent knowledge of ICT
  • Strong knowledge of Claims / Risk Management
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare operations in a broad range of clinical settings (e.g. acute, primary care, mental health, paediatrics)
  • Registered Clinician (Doctor, Nurse, AHP) OR Risk Management Qualification to Diploma Level OR Health & Safety Qualification to Diploma Level

Desirable

  • Legal Qualification
  • Teaching / Training Qualification or willingness to complete a suitable programme

Experience / Aptitude and Abilities

  • Experience of working in a concerns management / investigations / quality improvement role in the NHS
  • Experience of providing training in a one-to-one setting and to small & large groups
  • Well established balanced investigation skills
  • Experience of working in an environment under pressure and to strict deadlines

  • Communication, negotiation and motivational skills associated with supporting colleagues in other departments and services and delivering information which not be well received
  • Ability to effectively organise, prioritising competing tasks
