Job summary
NWSSP is responsible for the full Procure to pay process for all Health Boards/Trusts in Wales. Procurement Services have a vacancy for a Head of Sourcing - National Medicines Value in the newly formed Medicines Value Unit.
The unit will align with the ministerial priorities of a Healthier Wales by targeting new and innovative medicines to target population health and to drive greater value for the Welsh NHS through a Value-Based approach to medicines procurement, and working with NHS Wales bodies to gather, measure, and improve both patient outcomes and experience.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for the strategic, leadership and operational management of the designated Sourcing team, within the National Medicines Value Unit at NWSSP Procurement Services.
Specifically within the designated Sourcing Team, the post holder will responsible for:
The planning, implementation and control of a National Sourcing service, providing a range of products / services to the NHS in Wales and other Public Sector bodies; ensuring that the service provides optimum solutions to customer needs, so releasing resources for patient care.
Leading the management of all non-pay expenditure within the relevant Category portfolios in line with good practice Category Management principles
Lead and be responsible for on all non-pay expenditure and subsequent value for money within the Category specific portfolio. This will require the highest level of communication and relationship skills in order to prioritise areas of expenditure and identify saving and added value on behalf of NHS Wales. This may involve conveying & managing highly contentious and complex information in an atmosphere of continuous change and efficiency.
Deliver and monitor the non-pay savings plan within the designated Categories to influence non-pay spend across NHS Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
