We have an exciting secondment opportunity within the Clinical Directorate for an experienced Information Governance professional to join the IG support function for the National Data Resource (NDR) Programme.

You will be working as part of a dynamic and friendly team to support a priority national programme.

The post is being advertised as cover for maternity leave.

What the role involves:

You will provide senior level support within the Information Governance Team, providing expert advice and guidance to stakeholders across a range of NDR programme related projects. You will take responsibility for a number of programme deliverables, including the further development and embedding of the IG framework that clarifies how stakeholders can meet their legal obligations when processing personal and confidential data in relevant services.

What we are looking for:

  • Subject matter expertise in data protection and the common law duty of confidentiality.

  • Data protection qualifications to practitioner level.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.

  • Someone who takes the initiative and proactively finds solutions to problems.

  • Someone skilled in maintaining relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Significant experience in a similar role, would be advantageous.

  • Strong managerial skills.

Main duties of the job

This role will have a base from any of our DHCW offices.

As a senior member of the IG Team and a subject matter expert in your field you will be responsible for the overall management of the NDR Programme's IG support function. You will need a flexible and collaborative approach and be able to adjust your approach according to your audience. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and drive to provide a first-class service in what can be a challenging environment.

Day to day you willbe responsible for managing all aspects of the function, including:

  • Proactively advising on the management of key IG risks and issues to ensure NDR projects and initiatives are delivered on time and to an agreed level of quality.

  • The delivery of the priorities of the NDR Programmes' IG support function, including the NDR IG framework.

  • The provision of expert, independent opinion and specialist IG advice to the NDR Programme and its stakeholders.

  • Analysis and assessment of conflicting information where expert opinions may differ.

  • The development of supporting tools and guidance to allow the NDR programme and its stakeholders to comply with UK GDPR and the common law duty of confidentiality.

  • Line management of staff to include, where appropriate, performance management, appraisals and personal development.
