Job summary

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Data Analyst (Power BI) to support Digital Health and Care Wales in the use of data to improve the delivery of patient care and services.

This post will play a key role in maximizing the potential of the local and national data collected by DHCW, contributing to enhanced data analysis to support the information needs within the organisation.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has experience in successfully leading on projects, along with considerable experience and knowledge of developing and presenting information using the Microsoft Power Platform (in particular Power Automate, Power Apps and Power BI), to various audiences at all levels.

The candidate should have proven IT skills in an analytical capacity i.e. good working knowledge of relational databases and information systems with data retrieval skills using software packages, such as Microsoft Structured Query Language.

The candidate should enjoy working as part of a busy team and be able to demonstrate a commitment to delivering a high-quality service. The successful applicant will need to be willing to learn new skills and maintain positive and constructive relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations and be able to prioritise their own work.

Main duties of the job

As a Specialist Data Analyst (Power BI), your approach will be flexible and innovative.

You will play a key role in exploiting data within DHCW and enhancing the data analysis, interpretation, and presentation skills in the DHCW Corporate Power BI Team, including influencing the development of relevant datasets to appropriately reflect the information needs of DHCW directorates and their initiatives.

Primary duties are:

To co-ordinate the delivery and processing of highly complex, sensitive data, information, and business intelligence in relation to all Directorates / Stakeholders.

To carry out innovative analyses and produce reports into the quality of data held by DHCW and ensure that analysts are aware of potentially problematic areas using Power Platform tools (Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps)

To lead on the specialist area of Power BI at a corporate level, ensuring standardised usage, quality assurance and best practice are in place and always adhered to

To lead on the development and roll out of the Assurance Framework for Power BI Development and Publishing at a corporate level, providing guidance and support to customers at all levels across DHCW.

Provide guidance on data and analytical matters to both internal and external customers and junior members of staff.
