Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Emergency Planning Lead to join us as we deliver data and technology to health organisations across primary, community and tertiary care in Wales.

This role is all about providing leadership and support for the organisation's statutory responsibilities for emergency preparedness and response.

Main duties of the job

These include supporting the provision of an efficient, effective and high quality professional and well co-ordinated Emergency Planning and Business Continuity function capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements. This includes preparedness, response and resilience.

The post holder will act as the lead for these functions and as an advisory resource to the Executive Team and all directorates. The post holder will be responsible for developing and managing relevant organisational wide plans and processes and for co-ordinating engagement with key stakeholders at local, Wales and UK level.

The postholder will deliver relevant training and exercising to test organisational and national plans with scenarios that align to local and national risk assessment requirements

  • Educated to Masters degree level and / or equivalent relevant experience and knowledge in the specialist fields of emergency planning, response and resilience, programme management or business continuity
  • Understanding of emergency planning and business continuity legislation, regulations and standards.
  • Fully conversant with national command, control and coordination requirements including competence to fulfil the necessary roles of a Tactical (Silver) leader

Desirable

  • Formal teaching qualification e.g. Post Graduate Certificate of Education.

  • Effective cooperative working with partner agencies in a resilience setting during a critical occurrence / major incident / high profile public event.

  • Ability to undertake business impact analysis, gap analysis and risks assessments
