Job summary
We are currently expanding our cyber security team and looking to recruit a Cyber Security Apprentice who is a team player with drive, passion, and enthusiasm. In this role you will be working with the team to protect the national digital infrastructure and services from cyber threats. you will have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies and tools, such as the Security Information & Event Monitoring (SIEM) service and the Vulnerability Management System (VMS), to monitor, detect and respond to incidents and vulnerabilities across the NHS Wales network. You will also provide security assurance for national applications, services and firewall requests, ensuring compliance with best practices and standards. Reporting to a Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will learn and work alongside experienced cyber professionals to identify and mitigate potential security risks, analyse security threats, and develop solutions to protect our systems and data.
Within this time, you will undertake a digital degree that offers the opportunity to work across the different functions within the cyber security team for four years, gaining a Degree qualification.
Main duties of the job
o To support the Cyber Security Team with administrative support as and when required.
o To co-ordinate the diaries of the team and the events calendar, arrange meetings for the Cyber Security functions, ensuring that all necessary information is relayed and distributed to attendees, prior to the date of the meeting, arranging venues and refreshments as required.
o Arrange staff training sessions, administer the process and prepare documentation in readiness for sessions and advise the line manager of the outcomes (referring to the Cyber Security team when required)
o Assist with the preparation of agendas for meetings and reports along with any necessary documentation for the Cyber Security Team.
o Standard key board skills/use of Visual Display Equipment
o Suggest policy changes as appropriate and ensure that the Cyber Security policies page on the intranet is up to date and accurate, referring any queries to the policy lead as appropriate
o Responsible for the equipment used throughout course of the day
o Provide help and demonstrate day-to-day duties to new members of staff ensuring information relevant to the job are shared on to the operational team
o Work with colleagues in a collaborative way (included hosted organisations) to optimise use of resources and improve documentation and the performance of the department
o To take minutes at Cyber Security team meetings
