Job summary

The postholder will provide support to the Communication Manager and play a key role in delivering the communication strategy which supports the delivery of open and proactive communications.

The Senior Communications Officer will be involved in planning and creating internal and external communications, event management and delivery and content development.

You'll be adept at writing engaging copy for all communications channels and understand the value of developing rich content by using video, audio, photography and animation. Creativity and the ability to convey messages in a clear and engaging way are essential.

The post holder will work with a wide range of people including senior DHCW colleagues and Board members, patients and public, health and care professionals, technology professionals, government, industry and academia.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Communications Officer within the Communication team you will support Digital Health and Care in explaining its work and its impact, deliver events, develop key messages and engaging content to reach our stakeholders and target audiences. You will have the experience to know the best approach to meet your brief and objectives and to ensure that our brand is recognised as part of the NHS Wales family.

Working across the full range of internal and external communications channels, the postholder will ensure we effectively explain the importance of digital and data to the transformation of health and care in Wales.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Experience of working effectively with people at varying levels of seniority

Desirable

  • Experience of working on health related campaigns
  • Experience of people management
  • Experience of working within or knowledge of key NHS policies and practices in Wales
  • Clear understanding of the wider objectives of DHCW and its context within current Welsh Government policy and strategic direction.
