Voted 'Best place to work in IT' at UK IT Industry Awards 2022, we have an opportunity for you to join a small but highly skilled Quality & Regulatory team within Digital Health Care Wales (DHCW) asa Wales Informatics Assurance Facilitator.

DHCW design, procure, build and operate a wide range of Health and social care services for NHS Wales; the Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance team provide assurance through the full product life cycle.The team members are the subject matter experts on Quality Management, Audit, Validation and Medical Device Regulations, supporting DHCW and other NHS organisation. A primary focus of this role is the facilitation of the Wales Informatics Assurance Group.

Main duties of the job

This role provides the day-to-day operational management of the Wales Informatics Assurance Group process and is the first contact for project managers. This role would also be responsible for:

  • Planning and organising the Wales Informatics Assurance Group
  • Receiving and quality assuring submissions of plans and reports
  • Monitoring the risk register on Datix
  • The development of the assurance management system
  • Escalating risks to Quality Manager (Regulatory Compliance)
  • Developing an assurance tool kit
  • Communicating with a significant number of stakeholders, NHS employees and organisations
  • Monitoring the operational transactions of the budget
  • Developing and writing documents related to the role's workstreams

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Lead and manage the assurance process implementation and evolution

Plan and book Wales Informatics Assurance Group meeting, maintaining technical files, logs of outstanding issues, provide initial advice and support for the scoping of DHCW products and services. Maintain the Assurance Process dashboard.

Finance & Business Assurance risk support

Plan and organise wide range of activities and develop plans to achieve directorate goals. This requires sound analytical judgment, analysis interpretation and comparison of a range of options.

Monitor and adjust activities resources and plans

Monitor and evaluate work, look for improvement and enforce change control. Operational responsibility for the use of Programme IT and Project information systems so the directorate plans are monitored and controlled and produce reports. Maintain Risk, Issues and Action logs.

Communication

Manage and communicate with a significant number of relevant stakeholders to their work packages and NHS employees and organisations

Strategy Development and Implementation

Contribute to policy implementation and design for NHS Wales within the scope of the directorate remit.

Financial Planning

Monitor the operational transactions of the budget, manage the budget associated with work streams, contribute to development of national business cases.

  • Prince 2 training (formal or informal or willing to work towards attainment).
  • Evidence of further development - education/training

Desirable

  • Registered with a relevant informatics professional body

  • Previous experience of planning and managing work packages or projects with low complexity with successful delivery within time and cost.
  • Good knowledge of computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to master new applications.
  • Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects, e.g. PRINCE2.
  • Knowledge of risk management and assurance processes

Desirable

  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • Experience of working in health care.
  • Knowledge of the procurement process, including contract negotiations particularly in relation to IT procurements.
  • Experience of using Datix.
