Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Manager to join our dynamic team at UHS Pharmacy Ltd to support the general manager and company board by overseeing the Pharmacy Management for the company.
At UHS Pharmacy LTD we are committed to providing a world class, professional, highly specialised pharmaceutical service to the Outpatient Department of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (The Trust). Working within an Outpatients Pharmacy at a busy general hospital is hugely rewarding and we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and passionate individuals to join our expanding, uniquely friendly and dynamic team.
About us
UPL is a wholly owned subsidiary of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The Pharmacy, located in the main foyer of the hospital, provides a range of over-the-counter medicines and products, as well as pharmacy services for hospital staff, outpatients and visitors. We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice, where everyone matters.
The Pharmacy is open Monday-Friday (09:00 - 18:00) and Saturday mornings (09:00 - 13:00).

Providing highest level of customer care and delivering key service and business objectives Managing the business in compliance with the duties set out by the General Pharmaceutical Council Providing management and leadership to the UHS Pharmacy Ltd staff Driving businesses and service development forward Maintaining and developing links with the hospital consultants and pharmacy team Identifying and implementing opportunities for innovative services Networking and liaising within the local area and primary care organisations Ensuring the safe and effective delivery of the Contract Clinical screening and accuracy checking of medication prescribed to the patients Integral in providing a positive experience for all patients and staff visiting the pharmacy Comply with the professional and legal requirements and standards and policies of UHS Pharmacy Ltd

Qualifications/Training Required
Essential
- Master's degree in pharmacy or equivalent.
- General Pharmaceutical Council registration as a practising pharmacist.
- Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experiential practice.
- Management training/qualification or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- Royal Pharmaceutical Society membership.
- Leadership training/qualification.
- Independent prescriber.
Previous or Relevant Experience
Essential
- Experience of managing and leading a community pharmacy business or hospital pharmacy department.
- >= 4 years' considerable work experience
- Experience of managing a team and service.
- Experience of training staff.
- Evidence of being able to manage change.
- Knowledge and experience of UK Tax system regarding VAT.
- Sound knowledge of Pharmacy law, ethics, and practice.
- Track record of critical evaluation skills applied in practice.
- Proven track record of service development and project management.
- Highly developed negotiation, influencing and interrogative skills.
Desirable
- Both community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy experience.
- Experience of robotic dispensing.
- Management of a service contract
