Job summary

DHU Healthcare is a not-for-profit community interest company, providing a diverse range of services to the NHS frontline.

An exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced and passionate L&D professional to join the HR department in a newly created role.

As well as having the opportunity to design and deliver L&D solutions across the Company, the successful applicant will work alongside key stakeholders to play a strong part in supporting the company to embed a coaching culture. The role will also require the delivery and facilitation of our fabulous Inspire Development programme, created for us by Fields of Learning.

This is a standalone L&D role, reporting into the Director of People and OD. You will act as our trusted specialist in relation to Learning and Development and partner with all levels of the organisation to ensure a collaborative and inclusive approach to learning.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

1. Work in partnership with the Director of People to embed a coaching culture throughout the business

2. Identify and anticipate L&D needs across the business

3. Lead and drive best value learning solutions and practices that meet the needs of the people and the business

4. Design and deliver development initiatives, enabling a high-performance leadership and performance management culture

5. Design and deliver succession assessment approaches that drive retention and, in partnership with the Recruitment function, attraction now and in the future

Job responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

1. Work in partnership with the Director of People to embed a coaching culture throughout the business

Developing and implementing the organisational coaching strategy

Lead the delivery of the Inspire Programme and facilitate an in-house coaching network

Advocating the benefits of coaching culture and conversations in all activities and engagement with stakeholders

Identify opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders in ways which maximise embedding of coaching culture

2. Identify and anticipate L&D needs across the business

Proactively engaging with key stakeholders to understand and interrogate people and operational performance metrics, identifying trends and potential development opportunities to be maximised

Proactively supporting the creation of robust and meaningful development objectives with key stakeholders, linking these into the annual plan with clear alignment to strategy and Critical Success factors

Analysing and assessing development needs and priorities to create and communicate the annual plan, with a quarterly review to ensure it remains fits for purpose and is reflective of the changing demands of the business

Ensuring that robust TNAs are conducted, recorded and analysed for each area of the business

Providing training support and expertise to key change projects

3. Lead and drive best value learning solutions and practices that meet the needs of the people and the business

Providing learning and development initiatives that are based on business needs

Providing L&D best practice knowledge, implementing identified and agreed ways to maximise the effectiveness of learning, development, training delivery and learner experience

Researching, identifying and maximising delivery approaches such as blended learning, delivering best value and cost-effective delivering methods without compromising on quality delivery or return on investment

Researching funding opportunities for colleague learning and development, making recommendations to explore and implement

Agreeing, reviewing and monitoring the ROI for training solutions, ensuring these are realized

Supporting review of inductions and subsequent training, to support people to effectively make the journey from inductee to competent colleague

4. Design and deliver development initiatives, enabling a high-performance leadership and performance management culture

Improving line management capabilities to perform well and delivery high quality, values-led performance management through designing and delivering bespoke development programmes

Conducting accurate and robust leadership needs analysis, identifying trends and priorities for focus and attention from a development perspective

Contributing to leadership and management assessment, using a range of tools and approaches such 360 assessment and feedback

Design, delivering and facilitating leadership development programmes and modules, ensuring that external expertise is utilised to being optimal value add and impact where appropriate
