Business Support Officer - Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS)

Job summary

Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) provides treatments to patients with blood disorders from eight sites based within NHS Trusts nationally. While this role is based outside of the units in which we treat the patients, the varied responsibilities of the TAS Business Support Officer are crucial to the effective functioning of the service.

You will be part of a small Admin Hub team which supports TAS Management to delivering a life-saving service. If you are organised and prefer to have a wide range of responsibilities, then this role would be an excellent opportunity for you. The varied responsibilities include but are not limited to: organising and providing secretariat support to meetings, routine and ad-hoc data entry and analysis, bespoke project support and diary management. Effective communication skills are important, as you may be required to link with a range of individuals, from the internal management team to the front-line clinical teams who provide treatments to patients.

This role provides an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to develop a wide range of experience. We will be keen to support you and your development in the Business Support Officer post which is essential to our service.

Main duties of the job

You will provide a senior administrative support role to members of the national Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) Senior Management Team (SMT) and members of the TAS Senior Operational team. Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating good communications with the national TAS teams.
  • Providing administrative and office support to the function.
  • Providing secretariat support for national groups within the function, including the Senior Management Team Meeting.
  • Maintaining project monitoring systems and administrative support for projects e.g. national apheresis conferences.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Band 3 and agency staff.
  • Acting as a central point for both telephone and written enquiries relating to a wide range of service-related issues. This will require a professional manner as contact will be with multi-professional groups.
  • Providing advice and instruction on behalf of members of the Senior Management team within the TAS function.
You will be required to undertake occasional travel to any NHSBT sites to meet the requirements of the post (notice will be given).
