NHS Blood and Transplant

Statistician I

The closing date is 01 March 2026

Job summary

Do you want to join a large, enthusiastic team of statisticians who help to save and improve lives? The Statistics and Clinical Research group of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is responsible for the design and analysis of studies in organ and tissue donation and transplantation, blood donation and transfusion medicine.

The group incorporates the NHSBT Clinical Trials Unit, which is responsible for the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials in all areas of NHSBTs activity. The analysis and interpretation of results of all our studies inform decision-making on developments in donation, transplantation and transfusion, the clinical care of donors and patients, and equity of access to treatment.

Main duties of the job

As part of our supportive team, and collaborating with clinicians and other experts, you will be required to manage and carry out statistical analysis of data arising from observational studies and clinical trials in blood, organ and tissue donation, organ transplantation and transfusion medicine. This also involves reporting results to other staff in NHSBT, specialist advisory groups, the Department of Health, clinical staff in blood and transplantation services and other interested parties.

This post is an opportunity for someone with a degree or post graduate qualification in a statistical or numerate subject (or equivalent experience), although well also consider applicants still awaiting the result of their degree, to join our committed team of statisticians and become involved in extremely rewarding work using a broad range of statistical skills.

You may be required to travel on occasions for which notice will be given.
