Job summary
This is an exciting and varied role that supports our Senior Nurses within the Nursing Care Quality Team, working with our frontline blood collection staff. The Nursing Care Quality Team provides professional leadership and guidance to nurses working within Blood Donation. An essential part of their work ensures the clinical safety and governance of the donation environment, and the training and competency of collection staff. They provide expertise in the management of clinical risk, operational research and the implementation of clinical change. The PA support role will assist the Senior Nurses in a range of activities and initiatives to improve donation safety and clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
- To support the Senior Nurses and Senior PA to the Chief Nurse, Blood Supply with an in-depth knowledge of NHSBT processes and, where applicable, associated regulatory and statutory requirements.
- To take ownership of aspects of the Senior Nurses portfolio ensuring timely communication with internal / external stakeholders in line with the reporting cycle.
- To assist in planning meetings, including taking responsibility for setting time frames for required agenda items and taking formal minutes, as well as booking meeting venues.
- Be responsible for scheduling and allocation of business administration workload.
- Be responsible for providing formal minutes of both external and internal meetings, as well as providing comprehensive action logs.
- Provide business administration for Senior Nurse portfolios.
- Manage and coordinate workload to ensure that tasks are prioritised to meet specific deadlines, e.g. timely preparation of agenda planning, minute taking, managing course booking forms, and diary planning for forthcoming meetings.
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice
