Job summary

You will be part of a team performing a range of scientific and technical activities to support the manufacture of advanced therapeutic medicinal products and the processing, cryopreservation and storage of stem cells for bone marrow transplant. We will provide you with an extensive induction and training programme and ongoing development to support you in your role and achieving your career ambitions.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will support our Cellular and Molecular Therapies laboratory in a range of life saving tasks. Your day to day responsibilities will include:-

  • Working in GMP cleanroom environment, following cleanroom gowning processes. This will involve wearing hoods and coverall garments.
  • Management of stock, ordering and reconciliation of goods in accordance with MHRA regulations
  • Identifying and reporting any non-conforming results, and errors, incidents or events encountered during laboratory procedures to the designated colleagues.
  • Using standard laboratory equipment such as fridges, freezers, incubators, and microbiological safety cabinets without supervision. Set up and QC of analytical laboratory equipment.
  • Performing environmental monitoring of cleanroom and laboratory areas, including reporting when out of specification.
  • Monitoring temperature of storage areas and respond to alarms. Report when out of specification.
  • Providing support, training and supervision of less experienced staff in own area of work.
  • Performing temperature mapping of fridges, freezers, incubators, and laboratory areas.
  • Preparing samples/donor/patient material for processing, storage and/or issue.
  • The role will require you to work standard hours and days. Occasionally there may be a requirement to work some evenings, weekends and bank holidays depending on the project schedule, but with appropriate notice

  • BTEC or HNC (Level 4) in a relevant science subject, or similar qualifications relevant to the area of the organisation the postholder will be working in. OR Equivalent knowledge and experience (to BTEC/HNC level 4) of working in a manufacturing/ logistics/ supply chain/ laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
