Regional Donor Records Manager

Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant helps to save thousands of lives each year through blood and organ donation. Donor Records are part of the team that help deliver the safe blood and blood products and supply relevant information to help deliver the highest standards to patients. You will be a key member of the Donor Records Management Team leading administrative colleagues in this important role of helping to deliver the safety of blood and blood products. This will be a great opportunity to manage the team of admin colleagues who are responsible for up-dating and maintaining NHSBTs Donor/Donation Database, ensuring that the day to day running of a busy department which processes large amounts of records accurately within agreed timescales. You will receive induction and training from the start of your employment.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will manage the Donor Records Team, by planning and organising work patterns, monitoring staff workload, performance and absence on a daily basis, ensuring compliance with service level agreements and standard operating procedures. Your responsibilities will include:-

  • Delivering a quality service by working with and motivating the team and engaging with our stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the safety of blood, making sure that discretionary tests are checked for accuracy and validity and checking of donation numbers and advising laboratory staff whether discretionary testing is required
  • Providing leadership, guidance and management to the Donor Records Department Administrative team responsible for the development of information systems, processes and procedures associated with the maintenance and review of centralised donor files.
  • Liaising with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure the donation audit trail is complete and compliant with quality assurance documentation, Information Governance and clinical governance requirements.
  • Archiving and storage of donor records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Managing financial and physical resources for the department.
  • Providing analytical and judgemental skills to solve a wide range of non-clinical problems often with competing deadlines and resource.
