Job summary

The Molecular Diagnostics department is looking for an Administrative Officer to provide efficient and effective administrative support to the Molecular Diagnostics Department to facilitate the timely provision of diagnostic services ensuring procedures in relation to donors and patients are carried out to the highest possible standard. You will work as an active team member assisting with a comprehensive range of administrative duties/procedures as dictated by the workload of the Department. You will be required to communicate with the general public, other NHSBT departments and external contacts as required, whilst maintaining strict confidentiality at all times and ensuring that information relating to patients and donors is kept in a manner in accordance with NHSBT policies & procedures. 'We can offer both full time and part time hours between Monday to Saturday, 07:00-18:00(Saturday working would be compulsory with this role). Please indicate in your supporting information how many hours you would like to work and the frequency (e.g. part time, 20 hours per week over 4 days 10am to 3pm)'.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be required to: Spend the majority of your time undertaking sample receipt and data entry within a team environment Work as an active team member assisting with a comprehensive range of administrative duties/procedures as dictated by the workload of the Department Communicate with the general public, other NHSBT departments and external contacts as required Always maintain strict confidentiality and ensure that information relating to patients and donors is kept in a manner in accordance with NHSBT policies & procedures Receive and make telephone calls Occasionally deal with queries and requests for information from members of the public Maintain manual and electronic filing systems Undertake general office duties for example photocopying and scanning documents, minute taking

  • ECDL (part I & II) or ITQ2, or CLAIT II, or RSA III text or word processing or demonstrable workplace experience.

  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), or equivalent Systems.
