You will be leading and working with our multi-disciplinary teams and reporting on progress to a wide variety of stakeholders ranging from board members to technical developers and suppliers. Alongside the day job, you will form part of the product and delivery community of practice, working with heads of other product centres to ensure alignment in the organisation and sharing and learning experiences and best practice. The post requires significant autonomy and initiative as well the ability to inspire a team. The post suits an individual who are confident in their ability to deliver, productive under pressure, takes ownership of deliverables but knows when to ask for approvals or guidance. Clinical Services supports patients by providing a diverse range of testing laboratories, therapeutic services, blood stem cell collection and issue, and research and development activities. There are very few other jobs where you can use your skills and experience to save and improve the lives of patients with a whole range of diseases in the UK and across the world.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be responsible as part of the Clinical Services product centre for the effective and safe delivery of complex, high-risk and profile technology change that will support the Clinical Services directorate. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Act as the primary escalation point for any delivery issues.

2. Lead, coach, and mentor delivery managers and associate delivery leads; manage delivery budgets.

3. Establish and oversee standardised delivery management practices across the product lifecycle.

4. Ensure change planning, scoping, design, and delivery align with customer needs.

5. Drive continuous improvement and support efficient service operation.

6. Deputise for the Head of Product Centre when required; oversee deliveries valued at approx. £2m.

7. Set agile standards and improve tools/methods used by Delivery and Product Management teams.

8. Manage risks, issues, and dependencies throughout the delivery lifecycle.

9. Provide subject matter expertise to translate complex needs into clear deliverables and releases.

10. Support Product Managers with task planning and progression from discovery to live.

11. Ensure all products/services meet Government Digital and NHS Service Standards.

This role requires travel, occasional irregular hours, and overnight stays with prior notice.
