Job summary
You will have responsibility for advising and supporting researchers on all aspects of research governance; managing processes associated with research study development, project delivery and research study approvals. This post within the R&D Office provides a unique opportunity to establish your skills and expertise in a growing team. The R&D Office is continuing to make operational improvements and there will be additional tasks and exciting project work associated with this. As a member of management of the Research Governance Office you will be responsible for our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) strategy for all research related activities. This is run through our existing Patient and Public Advisory Group (PPAG). You will be working closely with our Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and the Component Development Laboratory (CDL). In addition, you will be working with the NHSBT BTRUs sharing good practice and supporting each other. There will be a need to develop new and maintain existing relationships with many other patient groups and organisations that champion PPIE in research. The role also includes sharing our research via publications and a regular newsletter aimed at the public to promote NHSBT and its research.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will support the Transfusion 2024 programme to further develop and take forward the PPIE strategy and support patient involvement activity to develop future transfusion strategy. Your duties will include: Telling our research stories effectively and consistently, promoting the reputation of the NHSBT, which will improve public confidence in our services, staff, and work. Producing a broad range of written communications for different audiences including gathering material for and producing blogs and newsletters for a lay audience (internal and external). Delivering high quality involvement and engagement advice and practical support to the T2024 programme team, Transfusion function, and NHSBT researchers. Working closely with the internal communications to update NHSBT Transfusion 2024 and research related news. Playing a key role in the involvement of patients to help define future research projects. Provide high quality written materials for a range of publications and audiences. You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.
