Job summary

The NHSBT Genomics program is using high throughput genotyping and sequencing technologies to provide better transfusion and transplant outcomes for patients. This role will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop and deploy bioinformatics tools for analysing and visualising genomic data for clinical reporting.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will work as part of a team to: Contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of software and IT systems and programmes to analyse data generated by current and emerging Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms. Write computer programmes required for the analyses of complex data derived from the HLA and other genetic systems. Contribute to the analysis of complex human genomic data. Perform computational genomics. Assist with the retrieval of data from existing NHSBT databases including PULSE and Hematos. You will be required to travel in the UK and abroad and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, but with prior notice
