Job summary
This is your chance to play your part in saving lives using your extensive knowledge of IT systems. Working in a small team of Operational Shift Engineers with a diverse knowledge set across Network/Security and Server/Storage infrastructure, youll support the development and delivery of our IT Operational strategy. Youll make sure everything runs smoothly every day with a meticulous, methodical approach to the operational maintenance and patching for our entire ICT estate. In fact, youll be the one to lead and manage any trouble shooting or technical issues, quickly finding the most effective solutions. Understandably, youll make data protection and security a top priority in everything you do, incorporating system backups, cross-site data replication and managing offsite storage.

Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for the provision of Incident Management and effective day-to-day management of National IT Systems, working with other functions internal and external to IT in order to meet agreed Service Level Agreements. Your responsibilities will include: Management, troubleshooting and ownership of technical issues which impact on IT Service, meeting Service Level Agreements and liaising with appropriate staff internal and external to IT as appropriate. Undertaking systems maintenance tasks on a daily basis and execution of routine change as documented in system runbooks. Ensuring that all IT Services run in configurations that guarantee continuity of service in the event of one or more system failures, guided by the Senior Operations Shift Engineer and Operations Shift Manager. From time to time you may be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays, with prior notice.
