Job summary
Youll be joining an organisation with ambitious plans to migrate its existing applications and infrastructure to modern platforms, cloud and digital services supported by leading edge technologies. You will be able to put your extensive architecture, solutions delivery and leadership skills to use, defining the architecture / business application visions, roadmaps and transition plans that are best for this organisation and leading and mentoring a great team of technology professionals. Reporting directly to the Chief Architect, you will gain exposure at Executive and Board level and be expected to demonstrate your understanding of technology and explain it in intelligible terms to a non-technical audience. We work closely with technologists in the Department of Health and Social Care and the Government Digital Service, and you will be able to demonstrate how putting users first in the design and delivery of technology services can lead to transformative change in a UK wide health and supply chain organisation. Note: This role offers a hybrid working option, but you will be assigned a base location at one of NHSBTs main centres.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will lead a team of enterprise and solution architects and business analysts to: Define strategic visions and roadmaps for how NHSBT will leverage common technology platforms across multiple directorates. This will require exceptional stakeholder management to secure support from senior managers and executives, ensuring alignment and harmonization of technology and business processes. Serve as the organizational expert and NHSBT lead for enterprise architecture, interpreting industry best practices and broad occupational policies for NHSBT. Utilize your understanding of technology and NHSBTs key challenges to drive innovation. Analyse NHSBTs strategic goals to identify the technology, data, and capabilities needed to achieve them. Identify and describe NHSBTs current business capabilities, data, and technology architecture using a formal methodology, and model this in an EA tool (iServer). Represent DDTS in organization-wide governance groups and forums. You will work closely with other architects to ensure best practices and design patterns are shared and followed across development teams. You will also initiate and deliver relevant technology evaluations and recommendations, and help define, implement, and govern NHSBT's approach to architecture. Please note that the role will require travel and time away from base, including working irregular hours and overnight stays when necessary, with prior notice
